Abstract

Burnout syndrome is characterized as a psychosocial occupational disease that occurs due to the great effect of constant stress in the work environment. It is a situation of physical and mental exhaustion when employees are no longer able to perform their tasks, and has negative implications for their personal lives. This pathology has been investigated by research in the area of ​​administration. In this sense, the present study aimed to map academic discussions in the area of ​​administration about burnout syndrome. Thus, 33 articles published between July 2017 and July 2024 were collected. These articles were analyzed when four main themes discussed in this study were found: impacts of burnout syndrome on health professionals, burnout in the academic context, burnout in the organizational context, and moral harassment and violence at work. Finally, the present study confirms the validity of investigating burnout syndrome for the area of ​​administration and understanding its possible repercussions and consequences for company managers.
