Abstract

Information systems play a fundamental role in companies, providing data and analyses that support the decision-making process at various organizational levels. Advances in information technology have transformed the way organizations conduct their business and make decisions. Thus, the use of information systems to support decision-making is important for greater competitiveness and improvement in the economic and social development of the organization. The objective of this work is to map the academic discussions on how organizations use information systems to support their decision-making and how this influences the achievement of the company's objectives. To this end, an analysis of the existing literature on information systems and decision-making was carried out through a bibliographic review and an investigation into how information systems are used in the decision-making process in different organizational contexts and sectors of activity. The conclusion reached was that recognizing the complexity of decision-making and exploring strategies to improve its effectiveness is important for contributing to improving the management and performance of organizations in an increasingly dynamic and competitive environment.
